canta brasil

ivan lins with djavan:somos todos iguais nesta noite

My Mom hipped me to Canta Brasil:The Great Brasilian Songbook forever ago. I fell in love with it. I've had the tape, cd and somehow, ummm, found the mp3. I love Somos Todos Iquais Nesta Noite. It's probably the only phrase that I know in Portuguese (that's a lie, but it's the easiest one to tell).

In English the phrase seems to still be wishful thinking... We are all equal tonight... Really...
Even in Brasil, are we?... I don't know...

The compilation feels like the Brasilian version of one of those NOW cds from, like '93, but at some point shouldn't being hip even be overrated...

Like what you like... Isn't that the best part of being here?

I don't know if Brasil will the new France for me but... I do know that it's all about Brasil in '08!!!!!

What does any of this have to do with a building reflected in a glass covered angel's wings? I don't know. Does it really matter?
